Selected works

I was deeply tempted to call this webpage “Selected Ambient Works”, as an homage to Aphex Twin’s masterpiece album. Unfortunately, that would have confused my readers, and as a professional communicator I care about being clear.

Here you can find some of the articles I have published, or at least some of the ones that brought me the most joy. I’ll do my best to keep this page updated.

Feature articles for Swissinfo

Swissinfo is a public platform dedicated to people outside Switzerland who want to stay up to date on our country. It is part of the SSR SRG family, just like RSI, RTS, SRF, RTR, and SwissTXT. For Swissinfo, I sometimes write long feature articles.

In late spring 2025, I joined Swissinfo’s AI beat as a freelancer. I finally got the chance to dive deep into one single topic, and AI is really trendy at the moment, as you have all probably noticed. In particular, I chose the perspective of AI and healthcare. My topics range from the help AI can bring where resources are scarce, to AI as a tool for helping people with physical disabilities, or for pushing excellence even further. These articles are in English.

My first publication for this outlet was an interview with Carlo Rubbia for his 90th birthday, in the same year as CERN’s 70th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of his Nobel Prize. To my great surprise, I was one of the few journalists who covered the occasion, and the only one who managed to interview him for it.

For Radiotelevisione Svizzera, hosted on live radio

I regularly write for Radiotelevisione Svizzera (RSI), and sometimes I get to present my stories live on the radio, typically on Rete Uno, and every three weeks on Instagram too. It is a nice way to make the most of journalistic research: the same content is presented to the public through two or three different channels, which add value to each other. Pretty neat, isn’t it?

I will also include here some articles for RSI that I enjoyed writing, without any radio contribution. This is what I typically do every week.

Long-standing collaboration with Ticino Scienza

Ticino Scienza is a small platform by the IBSA Foundation. It focuses solely on science news from Ticino, the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. Pedantic note: Italian is also spoken in Grigioni, but it is not dominant there. The region is so small that sometimes we write about talks at universities, which typically do not have press representatives in the audience. The editorial line focuses mostly on people and institutions, rather than on scientific mechanisms. Yet another perspective on academia.

Other articles, a bit older

Toward the end of my PhD, I had the chance to write a “Minifocus” article about Ticino for the prestigious magazine Horizon by Swiss National Science Foundation. You’ll never believe it, but it was thanks to this article in English that I started my collaboration with Ticino Scienza and, later, RSI.

23 february 2023 Of supercomputers and chestnut forests: a trip to Ticino

I want to share with you, dear reader who has scrolled all this way down, one of my first articles. At the very beginning of my career, between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, I wrote for the local newspaper Il Corriere del Ticino. My very first article is not available online, unfortunately. We still used printed paper back then! But I want to share here another important little piece of my life: the very first time I went into the field for an interview. I was, and still am, sincerely passionate about metrology, the science of measurement, and in order to write about the silent “measurement unit revolution”, I went to METAS to interview its research director. It was an incredibly exciting experience.
